“And the beat goes om” is a work of strong catchy basslines, crisp compressed beats and colourful cyber-squelch! Its mix of styles and influences pays tribute a wide angle slice of musical genres that have been aired, on the groovy side of mid-tempo, over the last few years. In this, his debut album, Jonathan Smith (the Slack Baba himself) introduces the un-initiated to his version of events… a melting pot of fluid grooves and swirling psychedelic melodies, a touch of the ethnic and some very respectable bass frequency action…

As one of a new generation of British psychedelic artists, Jonathan’s individual style has produced some memorable live sets; turning down tempo audiences into full tribal stompers at last years Glade and Glastonbury festivals and delivering his cross-boundary hybrid grooves with impunity. His music draws the listener through a labyrinth of pulsing rhythms and mind-bending sonic states, demonstrating his skills in sound manipulation and delivering a new take on psychedelic electronica.

Expect to hear a lot of this album this summer and a lot more from ‘Slack Baba’ in the future. This is a strong debut album that will not only further confirm Jonathan as one of Liquid Records ‘groovers and shakers’, but should also establish his place in the CD cases of DJ’s and punters alike both in the UK and internationally.

REVIEWS…
“Liquid Records' downtempo department has been busy over the past year cooking up some of the frostiest grooves, and Slackbaba's latest release, "And The Beat Goes Om", is undoubtedly one of the plumpest fruits of their labor. Serving up a healthy slice of dubtempo with roots and branches drawing from, and extending into, a myriad of musical directions, Slackbaba's beats are as abstract as a Picasso piece seen through a kaleidoscope, and the production quality is top-notch as well. Don't think you'll be sleeping through this one... this album spans the spectrum of speeds and there is a veritable traffic jam of colliding sounds coming at you from every which way... this music is that busy! “
Axis Mundi – Mushroom Magazine
"There's nothing slack about this baba, his beats slap straight to the om, with a nice touch of dubs, breaks, and smooth electronic sound manipulations to keep your synapses stimulated as the journey unfolds." Chris Organic - Organic Records
"The best thing we have heard in ages, all our friends are raving about it" Steve and Miquette - System 7/Mirror System 7

As an album, it captures and delivers what a new generation of dancefloor stompers are looking for; Combining deep trancey elements and hard hitting breaks with more delicate psychedelic meanderings, Cameron has created a style, that although describable in terms of what’s out there, is it’s own entity and is as fresh on the ears as I’m sure it will be on the dance floor this summer. In quantum mechanics a ‘tangent universe’ is an offshoot of an existing universe that grows from the energy of the primary universe and in formation becomes a separate universe in its own right… the appearance of a tangent universe has many implications however primarily and positively it offers change, revolution and reflection on the status quo… in musical terms this album does the same.
A talented freelance programmer and mastering engineer, Cameron is part of a new wave of artist/DJ’s producing psychedelic dance and dub music under a number of different guises. Alongside his solo and collaborative projects he has also racked up a lot of behind the scenes credits working with some of the biggest names in the mainstream American dance music community.
The extent of Cameron’s diverse musical experience is very much in evidence in this work, with elements from all quarters combining to create ‘The Tangent Universe’. From commercial clubland to the alternative festival fields there’re hints of it all in there… Uncompromising intro’s and sharp exits … head tweaking frequencies, big growling bass lines and solid kicks.. this is high octane music for the boys (that is sure to engage the ladies too!)

REVIEWS…
“Mood Deluxe has taken the best threads and ingredients from so many genres and styles and has woven a tapestry which could very well be the foreshadowing of a new generation of electronic music sound to come... above all, "Tangent" is sexy, surprisingly stimulating, and perhaps even moreso than Liquid's already impressive preceding releases, is sure to strike chords of nostalgia and hopeful inspiration in electronic music lovers from unspeakably many walks of life, and corners of the globe….."The Tangent Universe is amazing, imaginative and way ahead of its time. Undoubtedly this album will be the future influence of DJs and producers the world over, from all walks and genres of EDM life, bounding towards a utopian ideal where musical styles are not disparate, and there is no such thing as Genre... only MUSIC, and of all the albums the reviewer has done this year, "The Tangent Universe" is indeed MUSIC at its finest!”
5/5 Axis Mundi – Scene Networks / Mushroom Magazine

"Rock solid breaks overlaid with ruff and tuff basslines, blend somehow seamlessly with proper psychedelic melodies and electronic effectage to prove that it doesn't have to be 4 to the floor to be pounding. My favourite alternative, and so lushly non-generic..." Chris Organic - Organic Records

Release Date: 15th May 2006

Organic Records has been grooving and shaking the global psy-trance scene since 1997 with such successes such as their Tsunami Benefit triple CD album, which has raised nearly £10,000 to help victims of the disaster, to the pairing of the minds of Colin OOOD and Andrew Humphries into Voice of Cod, whose debut album We Are Free topped charts recently. Organic's latest endeavor, Psymeditation 2, will be no exception to this trend, and the track list speaks for itself! This compilation takes on a bit of a ‘tribal’ feel and brings you into a world of deep meditative vibrations. Featuring Chris Organic, under his new moniker Organic Substance, who has teamed up here with a technological innovator in chill-out music, Pale Moon Rising in a dubby masterpiece with twisting synths and percussions sending you in and out of a dreamstate. Next comes Noodream, once part of the legendary Dragonfly label, with ‘Open the Doors to your Heart’, a dub-laden melodic journey through your mind. Ganja Beats, formerly known as Alien Mutation and Shamanic Tribes on Acid, who’s album 'Paradise and Tranquility is still highly requested and acclaimed, his ultra chill mix on this CD shows why! Lemon Tree delivers an ethno-alien tribal groove with beautiful flamenco guitar melodies by band mate Mark Kingsley. Perpetual Loop, Organic's latest catch, delivers a dreamy soundscape with a maiden album soon to hit shelves. Last but not least up-and-coming artists from Liquid Records… Slackbaba, who puts forth a remix of ‘Drink More Tea’ which will draw the listener through a labyrinth of pulsing rhythms and mind-altering sonic states and Nagual Sound Experiment, a musical geneticist fusing roots and electronic sounds delivers a dub packed psybreaks beauty. Indeed, the past successes of the artists on this eclectic pan-genre lineup are testament to the fact that Organic has been ahead of the curve of 21st century chillout music for some time, and Psymeditation 2 cannot to be missed... this album is a cleanly produced, energized variety pack of audio chocolates sure to sate the appetites of electronica fans from psy-trance to IDM, drum and bass, world beat and so many others. The album has been mastered by Chris Organic, utilizing his patented 32bit sonic manipulation technique. Were sure you’ll be able to hear the difference: a much greater sense of depth in the stereo field while at the same time enhancing the central bass groove. All mixes are exclusive to this compilation

Artist Profiles

Perpetual Loop is Organic Record’s latest catch, Charles Massey is a classically trained pianist and cellist, and has developed a very unique style of ambient/world/dub trance especially for Organic. Perpetual Loop has released previously on Rumour Records, and Organics first Psymeditation. His debut album “Universal Flow” will be released next on Organic Chill later this year.

Noodream is the chilled project by Darren Evans, manager of Dragonfly Records in their heyday. The Noodreem project resulted in well received tracks on the Mana Medicine compilation (Liquid Sound Design 2001), and on Interchills “Arcana” released earlier this year. Working as an engineer in a South London studio, Darren has teamed up with some reknown Indian Musicians and raised his production skills many notches to provide Organic with this very special treat.

Organic Substance is Chris Organics chill moniker and you can rest assured you will hear more coming from him in the future. His first chill release “Tribal Faith” has been released on several comps, and here he uses his reknown recording skills to give us a deep, solid groove overlaid with lush dreamscape sounds, plus sweet melodies and guitars from collaborator Pale Moon Rising. Chris is a qualified and experienced mastering engineer, mastering all of Organic Records releases his own patented 32-bit, 3-dimensional sonic manipulation technique.

Slackbaba is the work of Brighton-based producer Jonathan Smith. A familiar name at parties in London and around the UK, his music is at the forefront of the new wave of British psychedelic artists. His skills of sound manipulation and organic instrumentation present a new take on psychedelic electronica, combining quality production and skillful musicianship with an ability to cross genres tastefully. Jonny's debut album 'and the beat goes om', will be released on Liquid Records in May '06.

Nagual Sound Experiment (NSE) is the dub project of Brighton based electronica and roots producer DJ Cameron Leonard-Schroff aka psybreaks pioneer Mood Deluxe. After spending five years working as a music technology teacher at LACS and ICM and as a freelance engineer and programmer within the Los Angeles music industry, Cameron returns to the UK to begin his career as a recording artist with Liquid Records. 2006 will see the release of both the debut Mood Deluxe and NSE. His Sound Design has been used in commercials, film and multimedia gaming including credits from Discovery Channel, SciFi Channel, Disney, Inside Cinema, Nike and numerous indie films. Cameron has also recently completed his first feature length film score to a soon to be unleashed hi energy Japanese manga/ anime.

Unconscious Collective is the outlet for the non-trance output of OOOD and have performed live at Liquid Connective parties and the Glade festival, where their set included live drums, guitar, keyboards and three vocalists. In addition to their collaborative studio tracks with Ramsay, Steve, Ryo and Colin all write solo music under the UC banner. 'A New Way of Thinking' is Colin's experiment into the alternative composition techniques offered by an early beta version of AudioMulch, a modular composition and sound design environment developed by the Australian Ross Bencina (http://www.audiomulch.com). It was then mixed in Cubase where extra parts were also added, including the haunting piano melody at the end, which was recorded in one take."

Lemon Tree are a proudly British band; Paul Bacon was once part of a punk outfit featured on the John Peel show, now teamed up with Little River's recording engineer/ flamenco guitarist Mark Kingsley as atmospheric chill band Lemon Tree. They have released previously on Chris Organic's compilations on both Rumour Music and the first Psymeditation, a track on there so legendary it has had them as one of the most requested live chill bands on the festival circuit, including Sonica in Italy.

Ganja Beats is the dub offshoot of one of chill-out music’s crowned Princes, producer/artist/musician Jake Stephenson, also once known as Shamanic Tribes on Acid, one of the original uk psychedelic trance bands, also as Alien Mutation, Crystal Moon and Dr Psychedelic. His debut album ‘Ganja Beats’ released last year is still steadily selling copies today! Jake was involved in the psychedelic scene from the mid/late 80's primarily in the psych rock band paperhouse who were well known for their electrifying gigs. Jake has released on many trance compilations and labels such as Kinetix, Waveform, and previously on Organics Psymeditation and the limited edition Tsunami Benefit CD.

What is PsyBooty ???

PsyBooty is the new crossover sound bubbling up from the digital underground. Intelligent, engaging, and undeniably funky, PsyBooty fuses the contagious dance floor rhythms of House music with the innovative sound design and aural sensibilities of Psychedelic Trance, and other forms of experimental electronic music.

PsyBooty is also the name of an independent record label dedicated to promoting its signature sound.

PsyBooty Records is based in San Francisco, CA, a major urban centre for House Music, Trance, and alternative culture in the United States. The label hosts a roster of talented DJs and Live Artists who perform regularly in the States and internationally. While label releases feature well-known international artists, A&R head, David Justin, puts great effort and emphasis on discovering and breaking new talent.

It is the goal of PsyBooty to develop its unique musical styling, and bring it recognition as the distinct genre of music it truly is.

Track Listing

1. Equisol – Mokoko
2. M-Field – Grokwave
3. Behind Blue Eyes – Rumble In The Jungle (Vacuum Stalkers Remix)
4. Etienne – This Moment In Time
5. prophei – Sickly Fantastic
6. ProSect – In Styled
7. Duca – Pozitiva
8. M-Field – Focus
9. Sound Field – Passion Session

If there ever were a testament to the growing Psychedelic Trance scene in America, PsyBooty Records would be it. Based in San Francisco, it is one of the hottest labels to grace the States with its influence. PsyBooty has brought together an eclectic mix of artists from all sorts of musical backgrounds in the United States and elsewhere abroad, such as Serbia, Israel, and Russia, who are simply doing amazing things with music. Bringing a new sound to what we all know as Psy Trance, PsyBooty pulls elements from and throws you back to a very vital point in electronic music history... the acid breaks, the 303, the House music - what?!?!? Then they top it all off with a huge psychedelic element to bring it up to date. From worldwide recognition of tracks such as "dAAth" produced by Annodalleb (a side project of PsyBooty's prophei and Cyrus Rex) currently touted by Hallucinogen, to the project Behind Blue Eyes, the artists of which currently log releases on Iboga and others under the Beat Bizaare project, PsyBooty hosts true musical veterans and innovators who ride the cutting edge of of 21st century Psy Trance. The stellar past achievements and huge future potential of PsyBooty and its artists are ones to be watched. Great things can surely be expected from this label, which has already proven itself to be top-notch in quality.

Artist Profiles

Equisol is the Trance project of Steven Fava. A US based artist working out of Southwest Florida, Steven holds a solid presence on the PsyBooty artist roster. He has two previous releases on PsyBooty Records, and has also seen his music released as a member of D-Space (Soular Records).

M-Field is among the newest additions to the PsyBooty roster. The collaboration of Jay Indigom (Alpha Channel / Indigom, PsyBooty) & label DJ Rob-ot (Rob Watson), these boys are poised to take the world by storm with their deep, funky progressive psychedelic style. M-Field is currently in the studio putting the finishing touch on their full-length CD to be released on PsyBooty Records in 2006.

Behind Blue Eyes / Vacuum Stalkers: Behind Blue Eyes is the project of Rene Nielsen (Beat Bizarre), and DJ Banel (Iboga Records). Their self-titled debut, released on Iboga Records, was easily one of the best progressive psychedelic albums of 2005. PsyBooty is proud to present an unreleased remix of BBE's "Rumble In The Jungle" by Russia's Vacuum Stalkers who have been making quite a name for themselves lately in the progressive circle, in addition to releasing down-tempo creations under the name Koan.

Etienne has been writing music for almost 20 years. In that time, he has experimented his way through Metal, Punk, Crossover, and Industrial, eventually creating his own unique take on Psychedelic Trance, which incorporates the various musical genres that have defined him as a composer. He has been performing live throughout the Northwest, Bay Area, and Southern California regions of the US for the past 3 years. Etienne's track, "We Come In Peace" was recently released on Monomad Media's compilation, "San Trancisco," and he has written professionally for web movies and video game companies such as EA and Sierra/Vivendi Universal.

prophei has been writing, producing, engineering, and recording electronic music for over thirteen years. His work spans various vocal, experimental, and dance-floor styles throughout that period. His industrial dance project, annodalleb (with longtime collaborator cyrus rex) will release their single "dAATh" on N3 Records in early 2006. The single and includes a burning hot remix by Hallucinogen, currently being caned worldwide by Hallucinogen himself and any DJ with an ear remotely close to the floor!

ProSect is the project of Andrey Yakovlev hailing from Israel. While Andy's music is mainly categorized as Psy Trance, he seeks to break rules and be an innovator in an underground scene he sees as lacking originality. He has found recent success seeing releases as part of multiple projects (Sound Field, Sonify, ProSect) on a diversity of record labels including Baroque, Tribal Vision, Kagdila, Oxygen, and now PsyBooty.

Duca (aka ANAX) is Dusan Sekic, of Belgrade, Serbia. He released his first full-length album as ANAX on Kagdila Records in 2004. Since then he has concentrated on multiple projects including his progressive project, Duca. "Pozitiva" is a progressive monster, which is sure to be one of the standout tracks on this compilation. Its deep dreamy synth work and smooth pulsing rhythms will appeal to fans and DJs across many electronic music genres.

Sound Field is the collaboration of Andrey Yakovlev (ProSect, Sonify) and Liron Atia (The Poofs). This unique meeting of the minds spawns a unique take on morning trance. Lush atmospherics, melodic and harmonic work, live instruments, deep, grooving rhythms, and excellent production quality are all hallmarks of the Sound Field aesthetic. The duo has been released on Oxygen Records and will have more material released on Crotus Records in 2006.

I am working on a plan to promote indie-artists and bands in India - through various channels like direct marketing & club representation, etc. I am mostly looking at direct sales for CDs (min. 1000 pieces) through a well-knit network of music lovers, which I am in the process of developing. Basically I am open to any genre - which sounds good but is not commercial and yes, eclectic - becoz Indian music lovers are opening to new sounds. We'll test market in Clubs & then sell to a captive database of music afficianados in major Indian metros. Anybody who has or knows someone with great music to share - and who wants to capture the big Indian market, pls reply to me with details. U can send me ur website, clips, bios etc on parvezagm23@yahoo.co.in

P.S: There are also offers for a few live gigs at select 5star hotels in the holiday (if u happen to be visiting India) season.

Looking to make a big musical bang with all u mates at Tribe !

Im looking forward to a new evolution of music kind of like studio music, where the best sequences blend with the best of live performance and all this can be performed live!!!!!

This festival is run on virtually no budget. The fact that it has become so big and wonderful is a testiment to the live looping community all over the world. None of this would have been possible without the existence of Loopers Delight, founded and maintained by Kim Flint. He just told us that this incredibly informative and exciting website has over 900,000 page views per month now. Thanks Kim for all of your energy, time and financial contribution to this community.

See you all there, I hope!!!!

yours, Rick Walker (festival organizer)

ps Sadly, Concert headliner, Italy's Roberto Zorzi's has had to cancel his tour to the US because of the illness of his partner Paola. Our heart is with them both and we pray for her speedy recovery.

I'm really looking for strange and unusual organ samples.
I was just listening to some Elliot Smith and Syd Barret (a bit of a disconcerting experience) and realizing that i love some of those quirky organ sounds from 60's records that are NOT the typical hammond B3, farfisa or normal church organ sounds. The more quirky and idiosyncratic the better but I don't mind just unusual organs as well or even synth organ
substitutes if they are in the same timbral spirit.

I have a great CD where I have assembled and categorized
hundreds of analogue synth, synthetic, electronic and drum machine drum samples. There are also a lot of real drums too
in categories by instrument. They are all .wav files but any decent sound editor can convert them to other formats.

I'd be interested in a straight trade. A CD of organ (and other keyboard samples for a CD of drum samples). I can process .wav and .aiff files but would have harder time with
proprietary sampler formats.

Please write me off list if you want to trade so we don't have to bore the folks at this tribe.
